I purchased the 21 inch suitcase and though I was able to squeeze enough shorts and T shirts for 5 days at Disneyworld, I needed my extra backpack to carry some of my other items. Flip flops fit nicely in the front zippered pouch and the clothes plus bathing suit fit snugly in. I think if I were to do it over, I would buy a 28 inch because I think that could go as a carry on as well. But all in all I like this little suitcase very much. The USB feature is a bit redundant as you need to buy a battery pack that requires charging just as the phone would, but I guess in some situations it might be useful. I like having a battery pack, but it doesn't come with the case, just the cable.

I love samsonite soft side luggage. Yes a zipper has fallen off our other suitcases but I just use a zip tie. For the first time ever we’re planning a vacation to Scotland, and with the current travel mess with cancelled flights, delays, and lost luggage, we’re going for carry on only. This bag looks soooooo tiny but it holds a LOT!!!!! I experimented and packed give or take what I would be packing. Room to spare without using the extender zipper. I was at 17 pounds including the suitcase, the limit can be 22. Hubby will be golfing and he needs more clothes. Cool weather clothes. I didn’t quite add everything but everything fit again with room to spare. I would’ve never believed we could do with a carry on!! Especially my husband. I’m pretty excited about traveling with no checked baggage. I also got a fabulous tote to slip on the handle. I love the configuration of samsonite with the big zipper pockets on the front. We like United and hope to fly with them because there’s no weight limit for carry on. I think we can squeeze all of our clothes into these bags but they might be over some Airlines’s limits. Maybe I’ll experiment again later and take pictures to add what all fits. I highly recommend this bag.

Pros: This case has great wheels--it's easily manueverable and fits nicely in the overhead bins, even on a small commuter plane where others with carry-ons had to gate check. I needed something lightweight that I could easily lift over my head into the bin, and this checks that box nicely. Construction seems solid for a lightweight case as well.
Cons: VERY small packing space--not that much more than my laptop bag, actually. The pockets are not very well-designed either (they don't run the full width of the lid), further limiting what you can pack. The wheels are on a "stalk" that protrudes down from the bottom of the case, taking up space that could have otherwise been used for case interior. If I had been able to see this product in person before I purchased, I likely would not have bought it due to the extremely small size. Unfortunately, the day after the case arrived, I had to use the bag for an unplanned, emergency trip, so now I can't return it.
UPDATE: I used this bag for a 6 day vacation this summer. Using packing cubes and tightly rolling clothes, I was able to fit in: 3 pr pants, 6 t-shirts, 1 pr. flannel pj bottoms, 1 pr lightweight cotton pj bottoms, a pj top, a lightweight sweater, a pair of Chaco sandals, underwear and all my toiletries. Had everything I needed and never did laundry. Was very pleased with the bag’s performance, so I’m upping my review a by a star. I stick by my earlier assessment: this is one of the smallest “full size” carry-ones I’ve come across and the lid pockets are not the best design. But if you’re primarily looking for lightweight and maneuverability, you’ll probably be reasonably happy with this bag.

I have a couple of Samsonite 24” Softside Expandable Spinner suitcases that we’ve had for over 10 years now. We’ve gone on lots of trips with those bags and they still look really good and the wheels and zippers still function perfectly. We wanted a wheeled carry-on bag and so bought this 20” bag. We’ll be using the bag for the first time next week…so this review is just a comparison on quality and construction that Samsonite offers now vs 10+ years ago:
* new luggage no longer mention “denier” when describing how tough the fabric is on the bag. Denier is a unit of measurement to determine fiber thickness. The higher the number, the thicker, more sturdy, and more durable the fabric is. The fact that they’re not rating the fabric is telling.
* the wheels on this suitcase are made from a softer plastic, they feel slightly like rubber. The wheels on the older suitcases are a hard, tough plastic and they sit closer to the bottom of the bag, so are more protected. There are several current reviews about this new luggage that include photos, as well as mention how easily damaged the wheels can be..
* the lining on the new suitcase is really thin.
* the new bag is smaller, and yet cost more than the older bags. I have absolutely no problem paying more for new items due to increase to cost of materials and manufacturing. I expect to pay more…but it’s aggravating that we pay more for lesser quality for pretty every product out there, including this luggage.
I kept the Star rating at 3 since I haven’t used the bag yet. I deducted 2 stars because the quality just isn’t there…and I honestly can’t see this bag lasting 10+ years like my old bags. There seems to be a lot of other Samsonite options unavailable/out of stock, so I had fewer choices on bags. Hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised how the bag performs…and will be happy to update my review if that’s the case. I’m just really disheartened to see such a quality downgrade in materials.
On the plus side, the bag is lightweight, and should fit in the overhead compartment nicely.

I needed a carry-on ASAP and this one had a lot of great reviews. It’s much smaller than my other carry-on but labeled as the same size. It was fine for this trip but I wouldn’t have been able to do a day or two longer. My bigger issue is the physical functionality of the suitcase. The handle is very flimsy, once packed it doesn’t roll nicely, and even more annoying, it fell over a few times.

And then I read the tag that states that this bag has chemicals in it that are known to the state of California to cause cancer or birth defects!? Really?? Shame on you Samsonite. Very nice color for this bag. I thought price was good. Upon opening the ripped up box which had been retaped and inspecting interior of luggage, several specks of unknown substance were found. Also the wheels have OBVIOUS SIGNS OF USE! IT SHOULDN'T COME THIS WAY FROM THE FACTORY!! Box has huge tear which truthfully wouldn't indicate previous use but the way the box had obviously been retaped gave more impression this unit had been used, returned and resold as new. This unit should not have been advertised as new!! Amazon should do better!!

I replaced my 15+ year-old Samsonite suitcase with this.
This is something I wouldn’t have bought if I had seen it in person. The fabric is very thin, and doesn’t look all that high quality. The construction doesn’t appear to be very solid, and is no match to that of my old one.
If light weight is important to you, this may be good. If solid construction and durability matters, I would look elsewhere.

UPDATE - I never heard anything from Samsonite Asia, but Samsonite Atlanta repaired my suitcase quickly and reasonably. As for Philippine Airlines, they will reimburse me for 2 of 3 broken wheels. Go figure. Maybe the 67% original parts. Scary company.
This bag is great, but what happens when an airline severly damages your bag while traveling?
Before a trip to Asia I had the zippers on my large suitcase repaired in Atlanta. It was repaired earlier than promised and covered by warranty. Then Philippine Airlines damaged 2 bags going to Manila, one being my Samsonite. After more than a month trying to get my bag fixed by Samsonite Philippines plus writing to Samsonite's Asian headquarters, no contact was received. We had to arrange someone to collect it for us closer to Samsonite's facility so we had the broken suitcase to use going home. Without excellent customer service, Samsonite cannot compete against knockoffs. So buy a knockoff when traveling in Asia. Shame on you Samsonite Asian headquarters and Philippines

They advised I’d need to ship the luggage to one of their repair centers, at my expense, where they will determine if the damage is under warranty. No thanks, Samsonite. I’ll just not purchase your products in the future.

I had only a pair of flip flops in the front pocket, and I went to unpack and found the zipper broken. I have purchased at least 15 Samsonite bags for my family & I over the years and this one clearly shows that the quality of their product has plummeted. My previous bag was in great shape for 15 years. Very disappointed!! I should not have to buy a new bag every 3 months!! Too small. A failed design. I bought this 20” Samsonite under seat carry-on to replace a Travelpro overhead carry-on that I had used for short trips for several years. At a similar overall size, I was disappointed to find how small the Samsonite’s actual packing area was. It’s interior is only 17” inches long. Room to fold a few men’s shirts and pants, but forget packing your extra pair of shoes and a decent size Dopp kit. Spinner wheels take up too much room on such a small case. Also the plug in USB port is old tech and useless with the newer Apple phones. This carry-on is maybe OK for an overnight trip, but not practical for anything longer. I returned two pieces because they were smaller then expected. The return process was a nightmare and now I am still waiting for one of the pieces to be refunded for two months!!!

Absurdly small. Product dimensions are 22.0" x 14.0" x 9.5, but the packing dimensions are 19.0" x 13.5" x 7.75. The wheels take up 3" of height, and I can feel the loss of area.
